Local authorities have proposed 35 concentrated production zones applying high-tech methods, full mechanization, smart farming and measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
According to the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection of Hai Phong, localities have proposed 35 large-scale concentrated production zones for the 2026–2030 period, with a vision through 2045.
Under the plan, the city will establish 11 concentrated vegetable production zones, eight fruit-growing zones, 13 rice-producing zones, two flower-production zones and one mixed-goods production zone. The largest concentrated fruit-growing areas will span 900–1,200 hectares in Thanh Ha, Ha Dong and Ha Nam communes.
In these large-scale concentrated production zones, localities propose applying technology and full mechanization, circular, smart and ecological production that adapts to climate change and reduces greenhouse gas emissions. They plan to expand areas farmed to safety standards and organic certification for domestic consumption and export, while linking production with processing and market supply; and combining agriculture with tourism and other economic sectors.
Alongside proposing concentrated production zones, local authorities have asked the city to allocate funding to implement tasks and measures for developing these zones, and to invest in priority projects to build, renovate and upgrade infrastructure in concentrated commodity production areas during 2026–2030. They also requested strong policies to encourage and attract large enterprises to invest in agriculture.
