Over 3.2 million voters in Hai Phong are expected to vote at 2,577 polling stations

As of January 23, the People’s Committees of 97 communes, wards and special zones in Hai Phong City had issued decisions to establish one election team in each polling area for the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and deputies to People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026–2031 term. The People’s Committees of the remaining 17 communes, wards and special administrative units are continuing procedures to establish election teams.

Preliminary statistics show that the city has a total of 3,279,665 voters. Hai Phong is expected to establish 2,577 election teams, corresponding to 2,577 polling areas. Of these, 2,207 polling areas are located at cultural houses; 57 at pagodas or communal houses; 39 at private homes; 17 at temporary tents; and 257 at other venues.

In accordance with regulations, the city’s Election Committee and Election Committees at the commune, ward and special zones continue to receive candidate dossiers for deputies to the 16th National Assembly and deputies to the Hai Phong People’s Council for the 2026–2031 term. As of January 23, the city’s Election Committee had received two candidate dossiers for the 16th National Assembly and nine dossiers for the city-level People’s Council.

Election Committees at the commune level across the city have received a total of 1,221 candidate dossiers for commune-level People’s Council deputies, including four self-nominated candidates.

City agencies and units are currently implementing procedures to organize conferences to introduce candidates for deputies to the 16th National Assembly and candidates for deputies to the city-level People’s Council for the 2026–2031 term, ensuring completion no later than January 25.

Regarding the introduction of candidates for commune-level People’s Council deputies at agencies, organizations and units, 69 communes and wards have completed the process. For candidate introduction at villages and residential groups, 316 villages and residential groups have completed the process.

Communes, wards and special zones across Hai Phong City are actively implementing election procedures in accordance with regulations and timelines, while ensuring overall quality.
