Many people are planning family or friend trips for the April 30 - May 1 holiday. This year’s holiday travel trends show significant changes.

Optimizing costs
A representative from Hanoi Tourism Investment Joint Stock Company said that instead of long-distance trips as in previous years, many tourists this holiday are prioritizing itineraries that match their needs, offer flexibility, and optimize costs. Some even choose self-guided short trips nearby, driving their own vehicles. This trend is especially popular among young travelers and small families.
Explaining this, he noted that recent fuel price fluctuations have directly impacted transportation costs. Car rental prices have risen 30-40%. Airfares have fluctuated sharply, especially on routes to Phu Quoc and Da Nang, with many flights canceled. Input service prices (food, hotels) have also increased. As a result, tour prices are estimated to rise 15-20% compared to the same period last year. Cost pressures are making tourists more budget-conscious.
Businesses stimulate demand
According to the Hai Phong City Tourism Association, amid shared challenges, travel businesses are proactively adjusting strategies to adapt. Many tours using Middle East routes face difficulties, forcing companies to redesign products for cost savings, emphasizing road and water routes.
Limiting long-haul flights and shifting to nearby, flexible routes is a suitable approach in the current phase. Through this proactivity, travel businesses can minimize external adverse factors while maintaining attraction for peak-season tourists.

To meet increasing demand, travel agencies have launched promotions like service discounts, time-slot deals, and group incentives. This gives tourists more options for affordable itineraries.
