Largest Vietnamese-built 65,000-DWT cargo ship handed over

Nam Trieu Shipbuilding One Member Co., Ltd. has conducted trial runs and handed over Truong Minh 02 cargo ship to Dong Bac Shipbuilding Industry JSC, marking a new step forward in the company’s capacity to build large-tonnage vessels.

This is the largest-capacity ship series ever directly built by Vietnamese engineers and workers. The ship has a deadweight tonnage of 65,000 DWT, an overall length of 199.99 m, a breadth of 32.26 m and a design draft of 11.3 m.

The ship was designed by a joint venture between Vietnam Shipbuilding Engineering JSC (Visec) and Finland’s Blutech, incorporating multiple technical and operational features to meet requirements for large-tonnage cargo vessels.

The ship was constructed under the supervision and classification of Japan’s NK classification society and Vietnam Register (VR), ensuring technical, safety and quality requirements.

The completion, trial runs and handover of the ship to the shipowner demonstrate the efforts of the company’s officials, engineers and workers, while affirming its capacity to organize construction, control progress and quality, and meet international classification requirements.
