Thoughtful and close to the people

These days, regular health checkups and free screening examinations are being carried out in communes, wards and special zones of Hai Phong through a variety of flexible approaches. In addition to arranging convenient examination sites, local authorities are sending medical workers to people’s homes, providing transportation assistance and coordinating with hospitals to organize checkups.

The Health Station of Le Chan Ward is coordinating with mobile medical teams to provide free screening examinations at home for disadvantaged people and those receiving social protection benefits from September 14 to 25.

Residential groups review the lists and notify each household of the examination schedule; those who are absent or have not been examined can register for an additional appointment.

Bringing healthcare services directly to people’s homes gives those who have difficulty accessing medical facilities an opportunity to have their health checked and potential health risks detected early.

In Nam Sach Commune, rainy days have not disrupted the free comprehensive health checkup program organized by the local authorities. The Commune People’s Committee provides transportation for residents from village cultural houses to the commune multipurpose hall, particularly the elderly and those who have difficulty traveling. At the examination site, medical staff from VPMED Tan Hung Hospital conduct examinations and tests and provide thorough consultations for each person.

Free healthcare for the entire population

Behind these specific examination sites is a large-scale program organized by the city authorities with the participation of multiple sectors and levels. To ensure sufficient resources, the city estimates that more than VND 525 billion will be needed for free regular health checkups in 2026. Across the city, 71 medical facilities are qualified to provide health checkups. This system enables the mobilization of resources from both public and private healthcare providers to meet the demand for examinations on a large scale.

According to a report by the Department of Health, by September 16, 2,710,051 out of 4,212,201 people included in the consolidated figure had received health checkups, equivalent to 64.35%. The remaining approximately 1.5 million people will be scheduled for examinations or have their information and results cross-checked and updated. The city aims to complete regular health checkups and free screening examinations for 100% of eligible people before October 25.

Under the target set in the City Party Committee’s Resolution No. 11-NQ/TU dated July 15, 2026 for average GRDP growth of at least 13% per year in the 2026-2030 period, people are a direct resource of the economy. A healthy workforce, with diseases detected early and health properly managed, will be better able to maintain its working capacity, reduce time off work due to illness, improve quality of life and adapt better to new development requirements.

Therefore, investment in health is inseparable from the growth target. Every examination result that is updated, every disease detected early and every person who receives proper disease-prevention guidance contributes to building a healthy workforce for a city focused on industry, seaports, services and logistics. When healthcare is provided regularly, conveniently and equitably, human resources are protected from the grassroots level.

Therefore, health checkups for the entire population are not merely a healthcare program for 2026, but also a way for Hai Phong to care for its human resources and create the social foundation needed to pursue rapid and sustainable growth in the years ahead.
