On the afternoon of June 19, Vice-Chairman of the Hai Phong People’s Committee Tran Van Quan conducted on-site inspections of infrastructure in concentrated agricultural production zones, waste treatment sites, irrigation and dyke systems, and natural disaster prevention measures in Tien Minh and Chan Hung communes.

During visits to vegetable production areas and aquaculture zones, landfill and collection points, and after hearing reports from local departments on production development, environmental protection and disaster response, the city leader acknowledged the localities’ proactive efforts in developing agriculture, natural disaster prevention, and improving waste-treatment and environmental protection effectiveness.

On environmental protection, the city Vice-Chairman requested communes to step up waste classification at source, reduce landfill rates, and enhance recycling and waste‑treatment efficiency. Regarding management of irrigation and dyke works and disaster prevention, specialized agencies are required to coordinate with local authorities to review and propose investments to upgrade key infrastructure, ensuring safety for production and people’s livelihoods. The city leader also agreed in principle to study dredging the Cong Than canal to improve water supply and drainage capacity for production, and flood - storm prevention.
