Hai Phong welcomed nearly 532,000 visitors during the two-day holiday

Hai Phong is estimated to have welcomed nearly 532,000 visitors for sightseeing, leisure, and entertainment during the two-day holiday of April 30 and May 1, marking a 37% increase compared to the same period in 2025.

During the two-day holiday marking the Liberation of the South and International Workers’ Day (April 30 – May 1), Hai Phong’s tourism sector recorded impressive growth. The city is estimated to have welcomed and served nearly 532,000 visitors across its tourist attractions and entertainment venues, a 37% increase compared to the same period in 2025.

The sharp rise in visitor numbers highlights Hai Phong’s growing appeal on the regional tourism map, especially as its transport infrastructure, services, and festival event chains continue to be developed in a synchronized manner.

Among the key destinations, Do Son tourist area maintained its leading position, welcoming over 300,000 visitors and remaining a top choice thanks to its proximity to the city center, convenient transportation, and suitability for short trips.

Cat Ba tourist area also sustained its popularity with approximately 70,350 visitors, reaffirming its status as an attractive island and seaside resort destination during peak season.

In addition, Vu Yen urban and entertainment area attracted around 24,000 visitors; Con Son – Kiep Bac historical site welcomed over 17,000 visitors; and the Co Island eco-tourism area (Nam Thanh Mien commune) received more than 3,000 visitors.

Not only seaside resorts, but visitor flows during the holiday also spread strongly to experiential and cultural tourism products. Culinary tourism (food tours) continued to be a standout highlight, attracting a large number of visitors eager to explore local specialties, thereby extending their length of stay and increasing spending.

A wide range of large-scale art programs, festivals, and entertainment activities were held simultaneously, giving an additional boost to the city’s tourism sector. Notably, the art program “The Country Full of Joy” took place on the evening of April 30 at the City Theater Square, along with a series of activities at the central flower garden strip, Vu Yen, Dragon Hill, and other locations, drawing large crowds of residents and tourists.

Alongside leisure and entertainment tourism, spiritual destinations such as Hang Pagoda, Ba De Temple, and the Con Son – Kiep Bac historical complex also recorded high visitor numbers for sightseeing and worship, reflecting a growing trend of combining relaxation, culture, and spirituality during the holiday.

With the surge in visitors, the city’s accommodation system operated at a vibrant pace. The average room occupancy rate across the city was estimated at around 65%. During the peak days of April 30 and May 1, many accommodation facilities reached occupancy rates of 90–100%, especially in key tourist areas.
