More than 300 households across Hai Phong city have consolidated over 3,000 ha of land to form large-scale commodity production zones.
According to the Cultivation and Plant Protection Sub-department under the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Hai Phong, more than 300 households across the city have consolidated over 3,000 ha of land to form large-scale commodity production zones, mainly for rice cultivation, in communes such as Nguyen Binh Khiem, Vinh Thinh, Vinh Hoa, Vinh Hai, Vinh Bao, Chan Hung, and Tan Minh.
Several communes in the western region, in addition to rice farming, have also developed effective winter crop models. For example, farmer Dinh Van Am in Gia Phuc commune has leased and consolidated 35 ha of land; Doan Xa Bung in Thanh Mien commune manages 38 ha; and Tran Xuan Ai, also in Thanh Mien, cultivates 54 ha. These large-scale models mainly grow cabbage, kohlrabi, and cauliflower, with contracts signed for product consumption through traders.
Local authorities are currently encouraging farmers to consolidate farmland to enable large-scale commodity production, which enhances economic efficiency, reduces costs, labor, and pesticide use, while addressing abandoned farmland and facilitating crop and agricultural restructuring.
