After 71 years since liberation (May 13, 1955 - May 13, 2026), especially the milestone of expanding administrative boundaries from July 1, 2025, which has opened up new development space and created momentum for Hai Phong city to break through, affirming its role as a regional growth pole and aiming for an international stature.
The epic “Loyal and Determined to win’
From mid-November 1946, the military situation in Hai Phong had become extremely tense. On November 20, 1946, the French forces provoked a conflict with our customs at Haiphong Port.
Throughout the resistance war, the military and people of Hai Phong - Kien An fought hundreds of large and small battles, breaking enemy sweeps on a large scale, eliminating thousands of enemy troops from combat, and crushed many schemes and plans of the French colonial military.
After days of arduous struggle, hardship, and sacrifice, on May 13, 1955, the people of the Port City joyfully welcomed Uncle Ho's soldiers taking over the city, while the the last French soldiers withdrew from Hai Phong city. Hai Phong officially entered the period of restoration and development.
A strategic turning point continued to be established from July 1, 2025, when Hai Phong officially expanded its administrative boundaries. This is not just an administrative change but a creative policy that expands development space and restructures the growth model.
