From 24:00 on March 26 to the end of April 15, the environmental protection tax on gasoline (excluding ethanol), diesel oil, and jet fuel is set at 0 VND per liter. The special consumption tax rate on all types of gasoline is also 0%.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh signed Decision No. 482/QD-TTg on March 26, applying environmental protection taxes, value-added tax (VAT), and special consumption taxes on gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel as necessary for national interests.
Specifically, the environmental protection tax on gasoline (excluding ethanol), diesel, and jet fuel is 0 VND/liter.
The special consumption tax rate on all gasoline types is 0%. The decision takes effect from 24:00 on March 26 until the end of April 15, 2026.
This urgent measure aims to stabilize the domestic fuel market and ensure national energy security amid tensions in the Strait of Hormuz, where crude oil prices have surged past 100 USD per barrel, driving up global and local energy costs.
The tax reductions are projected to cut state budget revenue by about 7,200 billion VND per month on average.
However, the savings will provide crucial relief to citizens facing hardships and boost business and production.
