Many cooperatives in Thanh Ha district, Hai Duong province, have actively taken lychees to supermarkets, building up a reputation for the specialty.

Lychees are exported to China and sold at supermarkets

Hop Duc HD Agricultural Service Cooperative in Thanh Ha district had shipped more than five tons of early lychees to supermarkets of Ha Noi-based Vietnam Biggreen Clean Food Co., Ltd. and a number of convenience stores selling clean agricultural products in Ha Long, Quang Ninh, by May 28.

The cooperative daily harvests and sells 2 – 3 quintals of u hong lychees to supermarkets for about 35,000 VND/ kg.

Lychees on sale in supermarkets must be carefully selected based on both quality and appearance.

Agricultural service cooperatives in the district actively instructed members to cultivate lychees following VietGAP and GlobalGAP right at the beginning of the crop, guaranteeing their quality.

“Only good quality lychees can conquer the market, whether at home or abroad,” confirmed Director of Thanh Cuong Commune Agricultural Service Cooperative Dang Van Hung, who is  experienced in supplying lychees for supermarkets and clean agricultural product stores in Nghe An and Ninh Binh.

In the past, when the cooperative first sold lychees to supermarkets, representatives of businesses directly went to its production areas to check and order lychees.

From this year onward, they will only place daily orders by phone, and the cooperative will pack and send goods by passenger car, which is very convenient, said Hung.

Thai Duong Safe Agricultural Product Cooperative in Hong Lac commune has supplied nearly ten tons of Thanh Ha’s early lychees for BigC and Metro supermarkets since the beginning of the crop, according to the cooperative’s representative Pham Thi Huyen Trang.

The cooperative will try to take more Thanh Ha lychees to supermarkets and clean farm produce stores in the coming time.

This year’s yield of Thanh Ha lychees is lower than previous years, but the price will remain high, according to Standing Vice Chairwoman of the district People’s Committee Hoang Thi Thuy Ha.

“There is no need to worry about consumption of lychees thanks to their outstanding quality,” said Ha.

The district People’s Committee will continue to propagate and bring into play the role of cooperatives in lychee cultivation and sale and select products meeting standards for introduction to customers, Ha added.
