In 2025, media agencies continued to affirm their role as a key information channel, providing timely coverage of the city’s major policies and development achievements.
On the afternoon of February 6, Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee and Head of the City Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department, chaired a meeting with press agencies operating in the city on the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2026.
Attending the meeting were Mr. Nguyen Minh Hung, Vice Chairman of the City People’s Committee; leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism; and representatives and journalists from central and city-level press agencies.
In his speech at the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Quang Phuc emphasized that 2025 held special significance for Haiphong, marking numerous important events of historical importance. The city was honored with the prestigious title of “Hero City,” while also successfully implementing the merger of administrative boundaries and putting into operation a new organizational and governance model.
In this context, press agencies have effectively fulfilled their role as the city’s leading information channel, providing comprehensive and vivid coverage of Haiphong’s political, economic and social life. The media have promptly reported on activities of central leaders in Haiphong, key decisions of the City Party Committee, milestones of the administrative merger process, Party Congresses at all levels and the first City Party Congress, as well as notable achievements in socio-economic development and national defense and security. The press has also contributed to promoting cultural values, the image of Haiphong people, social welfare policies, and efforts to build a safe and livable city.
Mr. Nguyen Quang Phuc, Head of the City Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department, acknowledged the effective coordination between the Department, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and relevant agencies in guiding and providing information to the press. He also commended the Haiphong Journalists Association for its focus on professional training, particularly the application of artificial intelligence in journalistic activities, as well as for organizing press awards and practical professional programs.
Regarding communication tasks in 2026, Mr. Nguyen Quang Phuc called on press agencies to proactively develop plans and intensify coverage of the outcomes of the 14th National Party Congress and the study, dissemination and implementation of its Resolution; major guidelines and policy decisions of the Central Government; and key national projects. He stressed the importance of timely information guidance on significant, complex and sensitive issues; strengthening efforts to counter false and hostile viewpoints; and offering constructive solutions and multi-dimensional analysis to help build social consensus.
Press agencies are focusing on extensive coverage of the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026–2031 term; the implementation of conclusions issued by the Central authorities on restructuring and operating the organizational apparatus under the new model; and the coordinated implementation of nine strategic resolutions of the 13th Politburo.
They are also intensifying coverage of the implementation of the city’s socio-economic development tasks for 2026 under the theme “Proactive Implementation; Leveraging Momentum; Breakthrough Growth”; the rollout of special mechanisms and policies under National Assembly Resolution No. 226; administrative reform and improvements to the investment and business environment; the formulation and implementation of social welfare policies; the maintenance of security, order and social safety; and efforts to build a “Drug-Free City.”
