General Secretary To Lam presides over international press conference announcing outcomes of the 14th National Party Congress

The press conference were also attended by Politburo members: Standing Member of the Secretariat Tran Cam Tu; Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Head of the Central Organization Commission Le Minh Hung; Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Head of the Central Commission for Information and Mass Mobilization Trinh Van Quyet; Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung; Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Chief of the Office of the Party Central Committee Pham Gia Tuc; Member of the Party Central Committee, Standing Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics Doan Minh Huan.

Members of the Party Central Committee, representatives of central ministries, agencies and sectors, along with more than 700 journalists from domestic and international media outlets attended the press conference.

Speaking at the event, Standing Deputy Head of the Central Commission for Information and Mass Mobilization and Director of the Press Center of the 14th National Party Congress Lai Xuan Mon emphasized that after five days of urgent, serious, effective and responsible working sessions, under the motto “Solidarity – Democracy – Discipline – Breakthrough – Development”, the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam had successfully completed all agendas and achieved very positive results.

Addressing the press conference, General Secretary To Lam expressed his pleasure at meeting domestic and international journalists covering the 14th National Party Congress, and thanked them for their timely coverage, which enabled people at home, overseas Vietnamese communities and international friends to stay informed of the Congress’s developments and outcomes.

On behalf of the Presidium of the Congress and the 14th Party Central Committee, the General Secretary affirmed that the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam was a great success. He described the Congress as a significant milestone in the 96-year history of the Communist Party of Vietnam and in the millennia-long historical journey of the Vietnamese nation.

The key themes of the Congress were identified as Solidarity, Democracy – Discipline – Breakthrough – Development; responsibility, dedication, intelligence and scientific thinking for the people; strategic autonomy, self-reliance, confidence and national pride, with the goal of building a peaceful, independent, democratic, prosperous, civilized and happy Vietnam, steadily advancing towards socialism.

He noted that the Congress reached a high level of consensus not only on the contents of the Congress documents and action programs, but also on personnel. The Congress elected the 14th Party Central Committee comprising 200 members, including 180 full members and 20 alternate members. Subsequently, the Party Central Committee elected the Politburo, the Secretariat, the General Secretary, the Central Inspection Commission and its Chairman, and assigned responsibilities to Politburo and Secretariat members.

Members of the 14th Party Central Committee represent nearly 5.6 million Party members nationwide and fully meet the standards of political integrity, ethics, prestige, capacity and professional qualifications, earning the strong confidence of the Congress to shoulder responsibilities to the Party and the people in the new revolutionary period.

General Secretary To Lam stressed that with the strength drawn from national historical traditions, nearly a century of leadership experience of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the unity and support of the entire people, and the encouragement and cooperation of international friends and progressive forces worldwide, Vietnam will successfully implement the Resolution of the 14th National Party Congress and build a peaceful, independent, democratic, prosperous, civilized and happy socialist country.
