According to the Domestic Market Management and Development Department under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, on the third day of the Lunar New Year 2026, domestic commodity markets showed slightly more activity compared to the first and second days of Tet, though still lower than in the days leading up to the holiday.

Consumers mainly spent time resting, traveling, and visiting relatives. Most essential shopping needs had already been met before Tet, so additional purchases were limited and largely supplementary.

The country’s commercial infrastructure system has gradually become more active again. Major supermarket and retail chains such as Saigon Co.op, Central Retail, MM Mega Market, Lotte Mart, AEON, WinMart, GO!, and Aeon Mallhave resumed operations. Traditional markets also saw a notable increase in the number of open stalls compared to the first two days of Tet. Convenience stores remained open throughout the holiday to serve residents’ shopping needs.

Overall, the market on the third day of Tet remained stable, with abundant supply and balanced demand. No shortages or unusual price hikes were reported.

In terms of consumption trends, demand focused mainly on fresh food items such as vegetables, seafood, and meat. Products used for spiritual offerings — including fresh flowers and fruits — also maintained steady sales.

Prices generally remained stable compared to the pre-Tet period. Any slight increases were localized and mainly observed at small retail outlets.

The agency forecasts that on the fourth day of Tet, more supermarkets, convenience stores, traditional markets, and grocery shops will reopen, with a wider variety of goods available. However, overall consumer demand is not expected to surge, remaining concentrated primarily on fresh food and produce.

As holiday outings and spring travel continue, markets in major cities and at tourist destinations and temple sites are likely to become more vibrant. Supplies of essential food items are sufficient to meet consumer demand.

Essential goods prices are projected to remain stable. At traditional markets, food prices may even decline slightly as supply returns to normal levels.

In general, the market is following typical seasonal patterns, with no abnormal price fluctuations observed.
