Whirlwinds, lightning, and strong gusts of wind may occur during thunderstorms, potentially causing trees to fall, damaging houses and infrastructure.
According to the weather forecast bulletin released at around 5 am on August 31 by the Hai Phong Hydro-Meteorological Station, convective clouds are developing and causing showers and thunderstorms in several communes and wards of Hai Phong city, including Vinh Thinh, Vinh Bao, Tan Minh, Nguyen Binh Khiem, Vinh Hai, Vinh Am, Vinh Hoa, and Cat Hai. Thunderstorm clouds over Hung Yen province are also moving towards Hai Phong.
It is forecast that in the coming hours, these convective clouds will continue to cause showers and thunderstorms in southwestern communes and wards of Hai Phong city, including Hai Hung, Nguyen Luong Bang, Bac Thanh Mien, Gia Phuc, Truong Tan, Dai Son, Chi Minh, Tan Ky, Tu Ky, Thanh Mien, Tan An, Vinh Lai, Khuc Thua Du, Nam Thanh Mien, Hong Chau, Ninh Giang, Lac Phuong, Ninh Giang, Nguyen Giap, Vinh Hoa, and Thuong Hong.
During thunderstorms, people are advised to stay alert for whirlwinds, lightning, and strong winds that could break trees, damage houses, roads, and infrastructure, posing risks to human safety and affecting vessels operating offshore.
