According to the Hai Phong Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, this winter is expected to be warmer than the multi-year average, with colder weather arriving later and fewer days of severe cold.

Hai Phong is forecast to be affected by 9 – 11 cold air surges from November 2026 to January 2027, including around 6 – 7 of moderate to strong intensity. Cold air is predicted to strengthen and become more active from December 2026 through January 2027.
Average temperatures are forecast to range from 22 to 23.5°C in November 2026, 18 to 19°C in December 2026, and 17 to 18°C in January 2027.
Severe cold spells are likely to occur later than usual and last fewer days than the multi-year average. One or two spells of severe cold may occur in late December 2026 and early January 2027, but they are not expected to last long.
During this period, the likelihood of heavy rain and thunderstorms is low. However, strong winds, gusts, and high waves at sea may occur when cold air surges intensify.
From February to April 2027, Hai Phong is forecast to experience around 4 – 6 cold air spells. Strong cold air is expected to occur less frequently in February, with its intensity gradually weakening from March. Prolonged severe cold spells are unlikely, and if they occur, they are predicted to last only around two to three days. Light rain and drizzle may occur toward the end of the season, but less frequently than the multi-year average.
The likelihood of storms and tropical depressions over the East Sea from February to April 2027 is low. However, thunderstorms may intensify from late March through April, although they are not expected to persist. The area could experience one or two days of heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms, whirlwinds, lightning, hail, and strong wind gusts.
