Cold air mass set to affect Hai Phong

The weather agency said a cold air mass is moving south from northern areas and is expected to impact Hai Phong on April 29.

Under the influence of the strengthening cold air, combined with upper-level wind convergence, temperatures in Hai Phong are expected to turn cooler, with lows ranging from 21 to 23 degrees Celsius.

From the night of April 28 through April 29, skies will remain mostly cloudy, with scattered showers and thunderstorms. Some areas could see heavy rain.

Northeasterly winds are expected to strengthen to force 2 to 3 from the morning of April 29.

In the Gulf of Tonkin, including waters around Bach Long Vi Island, northeast winds will reach force 5, occasionally force 6, with gusts up to force 7. Waves are forecast at 1 to 2 meters, with slight to moderate sea conditions.

In coastal waters from Do Son to Cat Hai and in Lan Ha Bay, northeast winds will range from force 3 to 4, with waves of 0.25 to 0.75 meters.

Forecasters warned that thunderstorms could bring whirlwinds, lightning, hail and strong gusts, posing risks to agricultural production, infrastructure and outdoor activities.

Localized heavy rain may also trigger flooding in low-lying and urban areas.

Residents and maritime operators are advised to closely monitor weather updates and take necessary precautions to ensure safety.
