The container handling rate at the Hateco Hai Phong International Container Port averages 30 moves per hour, with peak performance reaching up to 42 moves per hour.

According to information from the Hateco Hai Phong International Container Port (HHIT), cargo throughput in the peak month reached 108,430 TEUs, exceeding 130% of the Phase 1 designed capacity with five ship-to-shore (STS) cranes. Operational productivity has emerged as a highlight, with an average container handling rate of 30 moves per hour, peaking at 42 moves per hour, demonstrating the port’s efficient operational organization.

In addition to strong throughput and productivity, the port has also made its mark in digital transformation and sustainable development. An appointment system has been put into operation with a 100% usage rate, helping reduce container truck turnaround time to approximately 16 minutes, significantly lower than the market average of 35 minutes. As a result, businesses and customers save both time and costs, while logistics-related emissions are also reduced.

Under its investment roadmap, by 2026 the port is expected to have nine STS cranes and 32 e-RTG yard cranes in operation. Leveraging synchronized infrastructure, its advantageous deep-water location at the Lach Huyen terminal area, and a modern equipment system, HHIT aims to achieve a cargo throughput of 2.2 million TEUs in 2027.

On February 6, 2025, HHIT officially commenced commercial operations and welcomed its first container vessel, marking the entry of a modern Vietnamese deep-water port into international container shipping routes.
