The Standing Committee of the Hai Phong Federation of Labor holds its third meeting.

As of May 13, trade unions across Hai Phong had rolled out a range of activities for union members and workers during Workers’ Month 2026.

These included emergency support for 455 workplace accident cases worth more than 1.8 billion dong in total; gifts for 100 disadvantaged workers valued at 250 million dong; free eye examinations for more than 3,000 union members; free motorbike oil changes for 1,000 workers; and 5,000 free swimming tickets for union members and their children.

The federation also established 27 new grassroots trade unions with 1,283 members. The “Good Labor, Creative Labor” emulation campaign continued to demonstrate its impact, generating more than 47,000 initiatives and solutions that helped businesses save hundreds of billions of dong.

At the third meeting of the federation’s Standing Committee on May 13, delegates discussed working plans and regulations with communes, wards and special zones.

Delegates also gave feedback on a proposal to establish the Hai Phong Economic Zone Trade Union; a plan to expand the “Civilized and Safe Worker Housing Area” model for the 2025-2030 period; draft regulations on financial and asset management for the city Trade Union Charity Fund; and plans to deploy free wireless internet systems at worker boarding houses.

In the coming period, trade unions at all levels will continue to stay close to workers and place them at the center of all activities. Priorities include expanding Workers’ Month activities to ensure tangible benefits for workers and stepping up communication on the 14th Congress of the Vietnam Trade Union to boost emulation campaigns.

Trade unions in communes, wards, special zones, industrial parks and affiliated grassroots unions will also focus on membership development and the establishment of new grassroots unions, while strengthening efforts to provide political awareness training for workers in non-state enterprises.

The Hai Phong Federation of Labor will allocate substantial resources and coordinate with relevant agencies and businesses to launch bus routes serving workers in industrial parks. It will also study plans to promote cultural development among workers and expand healthcare activities for union members.
