According to the Hai Duong provincial Statistics Office, the consumer price index (CPI) in August rose by 0.2% over July and 3.44% over last December.

Increases in the prices of many goods and service groups are the reason for the rise in the August CPI, especially some greatly influential groups like food and food services with an increase of 1.77%, including a 1.8% rise in food and 2.68% rise in out-of-home eating.
The price of the housing and building material group posted an increase of 1.05% because the costs of domestic electricity and water rose by 5.72% and 1.5%, respectively, over the previous month due to higher demands in summer.
The price of the household appliance group rose by 0.38%, mainly focusing on such items as air conditioners with an increase of 0.11%; beds, cabinets, tables, and chairs, 0.81%; and soaps and detergents, 0.41%.
