Achievements in 2026 show that Hai Phong fencing is making positive progress, with its younger generation of athletes growing stronger through each competition.

A foundation built on young athletes
Results at competitions since the beginning of 2026 show that Hai Phong fencing has a promising pool of younger athletes, particularly in sabre events.
At the National U15 Fencing Championships in Ha Noi, Hai Phong fencers won one gold, one silver and four bronze medals.
At the National Youth Fencing Championships in Quang Ninh, Hai Phong continued to win one gold, two silver and seven bronze medals. Although the team did not meet its set performance target, the results still showed positive signs as the young athletes continued to demonstrate their abilities.
According to coach Nguyen The Hoang, Head of the Fencing Division at the Hai Phong Sports Training and Competition Center, Hai Phong fencing is currently one of the three strongest centers in the country, only after Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City.
The division has 33 athletes in the first and second squads and five athletes in the third squad, along with four main coaches and one talent-development coach. Hai Phong currently has two athletes who are members of the national youth and senior teams and regularly compete in international tournaments.
The progress and achievements of the young athletes are positive signs for Hai Phong fencing as it sets higher goals. They also provide a foundation for the division to build a pool of younger athletes and gradually develop in a stable and sustainable manner.
Confidence heading into major competitions

While youth tournaments demonstrate the depth of training, the first National Fencing Club Championships more clearly reflected the strength of the high-performance squad. With three gold, four silver and seven bronze medals, Hai Phong finished second overall, reaffirming its position among the country's strongest fencing units.
According to coach Nguyen The Hoang, the 10th National Sports Games is the division's key target for 2026. The coaching staff has developed a competition and training plan to help athletes reach peak form when they compete at the Games. The division is currently focusing on training, improving technical skills and gaining competition experience for its key athletes.
After completing its mission at the Games, the division will continue training athletes for the national youth and senior teams in all three weapons, with the goal of winning medals at the SEA Games and, further ahead, the Asian Games.
With its existing foundation, Hai Phong fencing is aiming for a new step forward in performance, continuing to affirm its position as one of the three strongest fencing centers in the country and contributing more athletes to the national youth and senior teams in the coming years.
