Chairman of the Hai Phong People’s Committee Le Ngoc Chau has called on local authorities to make thorough preparations to ensure election day becomes a true nationwide event.
On the afternoon of Feb. 23, Le Ngoc Chau, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee, Chairman of the Municipal People’s Committee and Standing Vice Chairman of the City Election Commission, inspected preparations for the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026–2031 term in the former Chi Linh and Thanh Ha areas.
The inspection delegation included members of the Municipal Party Committee’s Standing Board: Vu Tien Phung, Vice Chairman of the Municipal People’s Committee; Nguyen Duc Tuan, Standing Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the city; Hoang Quoc Thuong, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the city’s Party Agencies; along with representatives of relevant departments and agencies.
After inspecting Polling Station No. 29 in Chu Van An Ward and Polling Station No. 21 in Thanh Ha Commune and hearing reports from departments and local authorities in the former Chi Linh and Thanh Ha areas, Chairman Le Ngoc Chau commended related units for the preparations for the elections.
Noting that little time remains before election day while the workload is substantial, he urged local authorities to promptly review all related tasks and closely follow the plans and guidelines of the City Election Commission.
To ensure election day truly becomes a nationwide celebration, local authorities were asked to step up public information efforts, improve visual decorations and prepare polling stations to create a festive atmosphere among voters and residents.
Preparations of facilities at polling stations must be carefully planned, including the placement of posted candidate lists and the arrangement of ballot-writing and voting areas, so as to provide convenient conditions and fully promote voters’ rights and responsibilities.
Chairman Le Ngoc Chau stressed that this will be the first election following the operation of the two-tier local government model, requiring Party committees and local authorities to fully exercise their leadership and roles in conducting the election at the grassroots level.
He tasked the Department of Home Affairs, the standing agency of the City Election Commission, with continuing to follow central-level guidance and promptly addressing difficulties faced by localities in election preparations.
The Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the city was tasked with coordinating the organization of voter meetings to support election campaigning for candidates running for the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026–2031 term.
The city’s public security tasked with maintaining a firm grasp of the security and ensuring public order and safety before, during and after election day.
