Chapters of the Youth Union, Youth Federation, and Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneer Organization across Hai Phong city have proactively coordinated with educational institutions to organize practical activities, creating favorable conditions for the young generation to practice foreign languages, and integrate internationally.
Creative and practical models
One of the most notable models supporting young people in international integration is a free online English class co-organized by Dong Hai Ward Youth Union and PIC Language Center in late July 2025. The very first lesson attracted over 2,500 views and 1,300 comments, reflecting the strong interest of young people in the city.
“The class helped me identify effective learning methods and guided me toward international certification. I hope to join more classes like this,” said Do Xuan Nhi, a student at Marie Curie Senior High School, after six sessions with five practical topics.
According to Nguyen Thanh Hoa, operations manager of PIC Language Center, the class was tailored to different levels and age groups, with the support of professional teachers. The free online class expanded opportunities for all students to access foreign language learning.
Not only in urban areas, the “Green-shirt tutors, integration classes” initiative, launched by student unions of universities and colleges across Hai Phong, has helped hundreds of rural children access free English lessons. Many classes combine language learning with life skills, creating a lively and useful learning atmosphere during the “Green Summer” campaign.
Alongside innovative models, the city’s Youth Union chapters have established and effectively maintained more than 150 foreign language clubs, providing playgrounds for young people to interact and share knowledge.
Pham Huy Duc Vu, President of the English Club at Hai Phong University of Medicine and Pharmacy, said that medical students often lack an environment to practice English. The club helps students practice, reinforce knowledge, and support each other in pursuing international certificates.
In late April 2025, the club, in collaboration with Praham English Center and Minh Tam IELTS Center, organized the English competition “Crown and Conquer,” which attracted more than 100 students. Many winners at the school level went on to achieve high results at citywide competitions.
Comprehensive implementation of solutions
After three years of implementation, the program “Supporting Vietnamese youth in enhancing foreign language competence and international integration, 2022–2030” has contributed to building a vibrant language learning movement among young people in Hai Phong.
Through diverse contests and playgrounds, such as the English Olympiad for students, English Olympiad for young officials, English presentation contests, etc., young people have improved their language skills, strengthened their confidence, and gained exposure to international communication environments.
At present, all Youth Union units in the city has at least one awareness-raising activity on foreign language learning for local youth. All Youth Union chapters of universities, colleges, and high schools organize at least one language playground. More than 232,900 young people have participated in and benefited from the programs’ activities.
