Special festival at Me communal house

The procession goes along road 390B, closely followed by security forces and commune officials to direct traffic and guide paraders

After several years of being affected by the Covid-19 epidemic, this year's event attracted a lot of festival-goers.

The pig of Bac hamlet wins first prize, thus leading the procession

In the ceremonial part, hamlets paraded and offered vegetarian food and pigs. The festival part consisted of cultural, musical, and sport activities like volleyball, tug of war, chess, and duck catching competitions.

Six pigs of six hamlets are placed in the communal house yard as offerings for the tutelary gods. After the ceremony, the hamlets take the pigs back for distribution to villagers since they contribute to raising the pigs in one year to prepare for the ceremony

The most special feature of the ceremonial part was a pig procession with the participation of six hamlets.

An exciting tug of war contest at the festival

Me communal house was classified as a provincial cultural and historical relic in 2010. It worships two tutelary gods named Dao Cong Duc and Dao Cong Quang, who helped King Ly Nam De drive out the Luong invaders in 542.

During the resistance war against the French colonials, the communal house was a place to hide confidential documents, weapons, and revolutionists.
