Expanding production capacity to sustain growth

At Pourin Special Welding Vietnam Manufacturing Co., Ltd. in Nam Dinh Vu Industrial Park, Dong Hai Ward, production lines are operating at full capacity to meet export orders for various markets, including the US and Europe. In the first months of 2026, the company's production and export sales continued to grow positively.

According to the company's General Director Li Xiaodong, Hai Phong has many advantages and continues to improve its investment and business environment. Stepped-up administrative reforms and digital transformation have helped his business save time and costs in operations. In addition, the logistics system and seaport infrastructure are being increasingly developed in a coordinated manner, facilitating import and export activities.

According to the Hai Phong People's Committee's socio-economic report, in the first seven months of 2026, the city's export turnover was estimated at USD36.8 billion, up 10% from the same period in 2025 and equivalent to 70.8% of the annual plan.

Major export products included electronics and electronic components, machinery, equipment and spare parts, textiles and garments, and footwear. The export product mix continued to shift toward a higher share of industrial and processed products.

Asia remained a major export market for Hai Phong, with key partners including South Korea, China and Japan. The city is also seeking to expand into markets such as the Middle East and North Africa, as well as other areas with significant untapped potential, thereby continuing to broaden the export space for enterprises.

Expanding markets and leveraging integration advantages

Công ty TNHH Cơ khí Toàn Phát tiếp tục đưa sản phẩm xuất khẩu tới nhiều thị trường như Campuchia, Thái Lan, Ấn Độ…
Toan Phat Mechanical Co., Ltd. continues to export its products to various markets including Cambodia, Thailand and India.

If production capacity is the foundation, markets and the ability to leverage free trade agreements (FTAs) are the factors that enable Hai Phong goods to expand their export reach.

At the ceremony announcing the FTA Index 2025, organized by the Ministry of Industry and Trade on August 18, Hai Phong scored 35.62 out of 40 points, ranking first among 34 provinces and cities nationwide and becoming the only locality rated “excellent.” The city ranked first in two of the four component indicators: Access to Information, with 9.85 points, and Implementation of FTA Legal Regulations, with 9.4 points.

At the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Hai Phong People's Committee Hoang Minh Cuong said the city considers the FTA Index a tool for governance and reform, rather than simply pursuing a higher ranking. The city will continue to improve the quality of information provided by industry and market, particularly support for small- and medium-sized enterprises; reform procedures, digitize processes and issue electronic certificates of origin. At the same time, the city will strengthen dialogue and provide early warnings on rules of origin, trade remedies and new standards.

Hai Phong will also support businesses in diversifying markets, products and supply chains; strengthen connections between domestic businesses and the FDI sector; and leverage the advantages of Lach Huyen deep-water port, economic zones, industrial parks, the logistics system and the new-generation Free Trade Zone to increase localization rates and value added.

From production lines to shipments crossing the seas, the journey into global markets is built on internal capacity and proactive adaptation. This provides a foundation for the port city to maintain export growth momentum, expand markets and strengthen its position in global value chains.
