Spring offers a prime opportunity for the Port City to strengthen its standing on the northern tourism map, leveraging its unique advantages.

According to Mr. Vu Dinh Tien, Deputy Director of the Hai Phong Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, spring is the prime time for the Port City to affirm its position on the northern tourism map, thanks to its distinctive advantages such as spiritual tourism, festivals, nature-based experiences, and food tours.
Hai Phong is home to 3,981 historical and cultural relics, including 257 nationally recognized sites, nine specially designated national relics, and two world cultural and natural heritage sites. With a dense network of pagodas and historical landmarks such as Tuong Long Tower, Ba De Temple, the Trang Kenh relic complex, the World Cultural Heritage Site Con Son - Kiep Bac, Thanh Mai Pagoda, Nham Duong, and Kinh Chu Cave, Hai Phong has become a major pilgrimage destination. Early spring festivals not only attract local residents but also draw large numbers of visitors from Hanoi and neighboring provinces seeking blessings and peace.
At renowned scenic destinations such as Lan Ha Bay and Cat Ba Island, spring brings a “new attire.” The landscape becomes tranquil and misty in the early morning, in stark contrast to the bustling atmosphere of summer. This creates strong potential for developing high-end resort tourism and green tourism, attracting visitors who value privacy and wish to explore biodiversity within the world biosphere reserve — especially international travelers.
Beyond spiritual tourism, festivals, and landscapes, Hai Phong’s signature food tours have never lost their appeal. In the cool spring air, enjoying local specialties such as hot crab noodle soup (banh da cua), spicy porridge (chao cay), and banh duc tau, or strolling through traditional markets, becomes a unique cultural experience — particularly popular among young people.
In 2026, Hai Phong aims to welcome 16.1 million visitors. To achieve this target, the city will implement a range of coordinated solutions. Among them, launching and stimulating tourism demand from the spring season is expected to create strong momentum for growth throughout the year.
To prepare for early-year tours and the spring festival season, many historical sites across the city are focusing on landscape renovation and upgrading tourism infrastructure and services. A notable example is the World Cultural Heritage Site Con Son - Kiep Bac.
The Management Board is renovating the area in front of Ban Nguyet Lake, improving the lychee garden behind the three-entrance gate, and developing a Truc Lam cultural space. Decoration and communication work are being implemented comprehensively and are expected to be completed before the 28th day of the first lunar month. Approximately 8,000 ceremonial flags, 5,000 meters of banner strings, 1,000 lanterns, 500 Buddhist flags, 300 calligraphy banners, and 100 large banners will be installed at the heritage site and along main roads. In addition, 20 photo display stands will be set up, 20 large propaganda boards will be updated, and decorative lighting, public address systems, and illumination facilities will be repaired and upgraded.
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy Lien, Head of the Con Son – Kiep Bac Heritage Site Management Board, to better serve visitors, the Board has enhanced and upgraded three experiential heritage tours: “One Journey – Five Destinations,” “Following the Footsteps of the Three Patriarchs of Truc Lam,” and “Exploring the World Heritage Site of Con Son – Kiep Bac.”

Not only at tourist destinations, but also among travel companies, careful preparations are underway for what promises to be a vibrant spring tourism season.
Ms. Pham Thi Thanh Van, Director of Ngoc Anh Trading and Service Joint Stock Company in Tan Hung Ward (Hai Phong), shared that based on observations and booking data from the 2026 Lunar New Year tour sales, the company has recorded positive growth in spring travel demand compared to the same period in previous years. Customers are tending to depart earlier, opting for flexible itineraries lasting two to four days, with a focus on leisure, experiential activities, and early-year pagoda visits.
“We launched our product plans early, concentrating on designing tours that highlight distinctive northern cultural identities combined with leisure and spiritual elements. At the same time, our operations team and tour guides have undergone additional training to prepare for the peak season. Ngoc Anh Travel aims to achieve a breakthrough in the first quarter through Tet promotional packages and regional spring tours,” Ms. Van said.
According to Mr. Vu Dinh Tien, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Department has directed the development of “Spring Heritage Tours” that connect cultural spaces between the Port City and Xu Dong. Typical routes include the Trang Kenh – Bach Dang Giang – Con Son – Kiep Bac; spring tours associated with renowned cultural celebrities such as Nguyen Binh Khiem, Tran Hung Dao, Chu Van An, and Nguyen Thi Due; as well as the tour “Following the Footsteps of Trang Trinh” (currently under survey and development).
“Diversifying routes and destinations not only helps reduce pressure on several key heritage sites but also contributes to spreading heritage values across the entire city, providing more options for residents and visitors alike, and promoting sustainable tourism development in the new phase,” Mr. Tien emphasized.
