Imprints and expectations for three key projects in western Hai Phong

Data Center – the core of digital transformation

As one of the three key projects of the 2020–2025 term in the former Hai Duong province, the technical infrastructure and IT services for e-government and smart city development have been basically completed.

Among them, the Data Center (DC) of the former Hai Duong province has been in operation since January 2024, located at the Xu Dong Cultural Center with modern, synchronous equipment and machinery. A cybersecurity monitoring system (SOC) was deployed in December 2024 with seven components to monitor the DC.

The Intelligent Operations Center (IOC) also came into operation in early 2025 at the DC.

Entering this center gives the sense of modernity, intelligence, and usefulness, as all indicators of the new Hai Phong city are updated and integrated here daily and hourly.

“With unified, large-scale, and synchronized investment, the technical infrastructure and IT services for e-government and smart city development are basically ensured. After the merger, the DC and related systems have been being updated. The reports generated from the center are important resources serving the direction, administration, and implementation of State management tasks in Hai Phong city,” said Do Duc Thuat, Deputy Director of the Information Technology and Communications Center under the Department of Science and Technology.

Thanh Mien North–South road – “the dream road”

“The dream road” is the phrase many residents of Bac Thanh Mien commune use to describe the newly completed North–South road.

The starting point of this road is the intersection with Provincial Road 392 in Nhan Quyen commune of the former Binh Giang district, and its endpoint connects with the East–West road of the former Hai Duong province. The road is about 6.6 km long with a cross-section width of 12 m.

According to the goals of the 17th Congress of the Hai Duong provincial Party Committee, term 2020–2025, the province strived to become a modern-oriented industrial province by 2025 and a modern industrial province by 2030. To achieve this goal, the transport infrastructure system must truly take the lead to facilitate regional connectivity, inter-regional links, and create new driving forces for development.

Therefore, the road, built in the two former districts of Thanh Mien and Binh Giang – which were prioritized for investment attraction into industrial parks and clusters, has opened up new space, unlocked economic development potential, and improved people’s livelihoods.

Within just one year, the Thanh Mien district North–South road project was completed thanks to the strong efforts of the authorities and the consensus of the people.

The Sports Training, Coaching, and Competition Center project under review

The People’s Council of the former Hai Duong province approved investment in the Sports Training, Coaching, and Competition Center project within the provincial cultural and sports complex with a budget of 790 billion VND.

The project was planned to be implemented in Thach Khoi ward and Lien Hong commune of the former Hai Duong city. After the merger of Hai Duong province and Hai Phong city, the Western Hai Phong Construction Investment Project Management Board and relevant units are coordinating to review and propose adjustments to the investment scale, items, and works to suit practical requirements after the merger to both meet people’s needs and ensure optimization and efficiency for socio-economic development.

The project is receiving much public attention and expectation to become a new cultural and sports destination in western Hai Phong city.
