In the first ten months of 2025, Hai Phong’s consumer price index rose by 3.24% year-on-year, according to the city Statistics Office.
Of the 11 main groups of consumer goods, seven saw price increases.
Specifically, the index for medicine and medical services increased by 13.04%, mainly driven by higher prices of pharmaceuticals, medical equipment, and healthcare services. The housing, electricity, water, fuel, and construction material group rose by 6.69% due to higher input material and rental costs.
The group of other goods and services went up by 4.57%, largely from personal items and personal care services. Food and catering services increased by 3.47% as prices of rice, flour and cereals, pork, and poultry all rose.
The education group slightly increased by 1.83% as some educational institutions raised tuition fees for the 2024 – 2025 and 2025 – 2026 school years.
Household equipment and appliances rose by 1.17%, mainly in electrical items, homeware, and kitchenware, while beverages and tobacco edged up by 0.55%.
