A delegation from the Legal Affairs Committee of the Hai Phong People's Council inspected fire safety at several high-risk facilities, including fuel depots, chemical plants and apartment buildings, on June 8.

The delegation was led by Pham Quoc Ka, member of the Hai Phong Party Committee and Head of the committee, and included Nguyen Khac Toan, member of the Hai Phong Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the Hai Phong People's Council.
The delegation visited the Dinh Vu Petroleum Depot Enterprise, DAP-Vinachem JSC, the SHP Plaza apartment building and Petrolimex Hai Phong One Member Co., Ltd.

The inspection focused on compliance with regulations on fire prevention, firefighting and rescue operations; the establishment of on-site response forces; investment in, management and operation of firefighting systems and technical equipment; the organization of training and emergency drills; and efforts to address shortcomings identified by relevant authorities.
According to the inspected entities, fire safety and rescue has been maintained on a regular basis in line with their operational requirements.

The businesses and facilities said they had invested in fire safety systems, backup water supplies and specialized firefighting equipment, while regularly conducting drills and reviewing emergency response plans.
The delegation spoke highly of the proactive efforts of businesses and organizations in maintaining on-site response forces, investing in equipment and regularly organizing training sessions and emergency exercises.

The delegation also gathered feedback and recommendations from the inspected entities to support the committee's thematic oversight of fire prevention and firefighting across the city.
Speaking during the inspections, Vice Chairman Nguyen Khac Toan commended businesses and organisations for complying with regulations on fire prevention, firefighting and rescue.
He called on them to strengthen inspections and self-assessments, regularly review potential safety risks, update emergency response plans in line with operational requirements, and enhance the effectiveness of on-site firefighting teams to help ensure the safety of production, business activities and residents.
