On the afternoon of March 31, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism held a conference to connect tourism service businesses and destinations with FDI enterprises operating in the city. Mr. Nguyen Minh Hung, Member of the City Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee, attended and directed the conference.
Implementing Resolution No. 45 of the Politburo on building and developing Hai Phong to 2030, with a vision to 2045, the city is rapidly developing toward becoming a modern marine economic center, a logistics hub, and an international trade gateway.
Within this orientation, tourism is identified as one of the key pillars, contributing to the shift of the economic structure toward modern services while promoting the city’s image and enhancing its position.

Hai Phong possesses a rich tourism resource system with nearly 4,000 historical and cultural relics. The city is also home to two inter-provincial World Heritage sites: Ha Long Bay – Cat Ba Archipelago and the Yen Tu – Vinh Nghiem – Con Son, Kiep Bac complex. In addition, Hai Phong has nine special national relic sites and 36 officially recognized tourist areas and destinations.
The city’s tourism infrastructure continues to be strengthened, with around 900 accommodation establishments, including 19 four- and five-star hotels; 183 travel companies; and a workforce of nearly 1,000 tour guides.

Following the administrative merger, the city’s tourism development space has expanded, forming a multi-value and multi-experience tourism ecosystem. The eastern area stands out with its strengths in coastal, island, and ecological tourism, while the western area holds strong potential for cultural, spiritual, and traditional craft village tourism.
However, the tourism sector still faces several limitations. Tourism products remain insufficiently diverse and lack depth, while supporting services—especially the night-time economy—have yet to develop in proportion to the city’s potential. In addition, promotional and marketing activities have not effectively reached key market segments.

At the conference, tourism enterprises and destinations introduced their products and services, while discussing the needs of FDI enterprises regarding tourism activities, including timing, types of products, pricing, and accompanying services. Several tourism programs tailored to this customer group were also proposed, aiming to effectively tap into the international visitor market currently living and working in the city.

In his remarks at the conference, Vice Chairman of the Hai Phong People’s Committee Nguyen Minh Hung emphasized that the event plays an important role in creating a platform for connection, enabling management agencies and businesses to better understand practical demands. This, in turn, helps promote meaningful and long-term cooperation between tourism enterprises and FDI businesses, opening new development directions for the city’s tourism sector.
Tourism enterprises were encouraged to proactively innovate and develop products suited to the characteristics of FDI visitors, such as resort tourism, MICE tourism (meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions), cultural and culinary experiences, and corporate team-building activities. At the same time, businesses should continue improving service quality, professionalism, and their ability to meet international standards.

The Vice Chairman of the Hai Phong People’s Committee expressed his hope that FDI enterprises will continue to accompany the city and actively use tourism services in Hai Phong, considering them an important part of their strategy to improve the well-being of experts and employees as well as to build corporate culture.
For departments, agencies, associations and related units, it is necessary to further promote their role in supporting and connecting businesses. The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism will coordinate closely with the Hai Phong Economic Zone Authority to strengthen cooperation, promptly address difficulties, and gradually develop synchronized, high-quality tourism product chains with strong competitiveness.
