A national scientific conference on reforming Vietnam’s development model based on science, technology, innovation and digital transformation opened in the northern port city of Hai Phong on Monday.
The conference, held on May 26, was jointly organized by the Central Policy and Strategy Committee, the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, the Central Theoretical Council, the Hai Phong Party Committee, the Cong San Magazine, the Su That National Political Publishing House and the Vietnam Association of Economic Sciences.
The event, themed “Reforming Vietnam’s development model based on science, technology, innovation and digital transformation,” drew nearly 300 delegates, including representatives from central government ministries and agencies, National Assembly committees, the Central Theoretical Council, local authorities, research institutes, universities, experts, scientists and international organizations in Vietnam.
The conference featured two main sessions. The presentation session included reports on major orientations for renewing Vietnam’s development model based on science, technology, innovation and digital transformation through 2045; theoretical foundations and international experience in transforming development models and policy implications for Vietnam; the development model to build Hai Phong into a “Civilized and Happy” city and a model socialist city in the new era; development in human resources to support science- and technology-driven development; and policy recommendations for Vietnam in renewing its growth model.
The discussion session will focus on analyzing, evaluating and proposing strategic solutions to renew the country’s development model based on science, technology, innovation and digital transformation.
