The Ministry of Construction has approved Hai Phong Port JSC. to let Berths No. 3 and No. 4 at Lach Huyen port receive container ships with a deadweight tonnage of up to 165,000 DWT with reduced load.
The Ministry of Construction on August 14 issued a document approving the maritime safety assurance plan for ships of up to 165,000 DWT (reduced load) to enter and leave Berths No. 3 and No. 4 at Lach Huyen port, operated by Hai Phong Port JSC.
The ministry required the Vietnam Maritime and Inland Waterways Administration to take measures for safety, inspection, and supervision as stipulated in the ministry’s Decision No. 1731/QD-BGVT dated December 31, 2024.
The administration is to guide and supervise Hai Phong Port JSC. in carrying out subsequent steps in compliance with the Government’s Decrees No. 58/2017/ND-CP dated May 10, 2017 and No. 34/2025/ND-CP dated February 25, 2025, and the provisions within the scope and responsibility of port operators as specified in Decision No. 1731/QD-BGVT dated December 31, 2024 by the Ministry of Transport.
Strict inspection and supervision of the ship reception process must be ensured. The berths may only receive vessels when structural safety, maritime safety, maritime security, fire and explosion prevention, and environmental protection requirements are met.
Hai Phong Port JSC. is responsible for strictly complying with the instructions of the Department of Economics and Construction Investment Management as stated in Official Letter No. 1781/KTQLXD-CCPN dated June 26, 2025, as well as the directives and guidance of the Vietnam Maritime and Inland Waterways Administration, Hai Phong Maritime Administration, and other relevant agencies and units during implementation.
