Accelerating construction to complete Provincial Road 390B project

Focus on speeding up progress

In early September, construction of the project to upgrade Provincial Road 390B and build a new bypass around the center of the former Thanh Ha Town was in a bustling and urgent phase.

At the construction site for the renovation and expansion of Roads 390B and 390E, the roadbed and pavement works were basically completed, and the contractor is now focusing on completing the traffic safety system. At the Huong river bridge construction site, work related to the bridge's concrete structures has also basically finished.

The project broke ground on January 17, 2025, with a total investment of more than VND 720.4 billion. It is a relatively large-scale project, including the renovation of existing roads, construction of a new bypass and bridge structures.

Along with the road section, the project also involves renovating and widening the existing slab bridge on Provincial Road 390B (Ac Bridge), with a width of 20.04 m, and building a new bridge over the Huong River on the bypass around the center of Thanh Ha Town, with a width of 16.5 m, ensuring the design load as prescribed and the navigation clearance for a Class VI canal in northern Vietnam.

The project is large in scale, with the road running through Ha Bac, Ha Nam and Thanh Ha communes, while construction has been affected by fluctuations in prices, material supplies and ground conditions. In response to these difficulties, contractors have organized simultaneous construction at multiple sites, proactively coordinated personnel, machinery and financial resources, and focused on individual work items, striving to complete the project in 2026.

Expanding connectivity, creating room for development

The project to upgrade Provincial Road 390B and build a new bypass around the center of the former Thanh Ha Town plays an important role in improving transport connectivity. Provincial Road 390B connects with the project to renovate and upgrade Provincial Road 390 from Hop Thanh Bridge to Quang Thanh Bridge, while also connecting with the interchange between Provincial Road 390 in Thanh Ha District and the Ha Noi – Hai Phong Expressway in Ha Dong Commune.

The connectivity between these projects helps shorten travel time and expand the movement of goods and services between the localities along the routes. It also connects with key transport routes in Hai Phong and the northern key economic region.

At the same time, building a bypass around the center of the former Thanh Ha Town is important for urban traffic organization, helping reduce traffic pressure in densely populated areas, limit the risk of congestion, improve traffic safety and create conditions for expanding development space.

The project to upgrade Provincial Road 390B and build a new bypass around the center of the former Thanh Ha Town is entering its final stage. With efforts to accelerate progress, address difficulties and effectively mobilize resources, the contractor is striving to complete the project in 2026.
