Construction progress across contract packages of the Nguyen Trai bridge and surrounding urban upgrade project is being accelerated.

Construction accelerated

In early April, construction at the project site has intensified, with work carried out continuously.

The package covering approach bridges, access roads and interchanges has reached nearly 80% of its contract value, the fastest among all components, and is expected to be completed by the end of 2026. Following the efforts in easing bottlenecks, progress has picked up markedly. Taking advantage of favorable weather, contractors have mobilized manpower and equipment, organizing multiple shifts to speed up the construction.

To ensure synchronized progress and avoid delays between components, the Package 14, which involves the cable-stayed main bridge, has also been accelerated.

According to Dinh Duc Duy, a representative of the supervision consultant, progress across packages is being well controlled. Contractors are following technical procedures while flexibly adjusting construction methods to suit site conditions. The packages have been implemented on schedule and in line with quality requirements.

Alongside the two main packages, Package 30, which includes the underpass at the Nguyen Trai – Le Hong Phong intersection, is also being implemented. Initial works such as site clearance, road surface removal, drainage system construction and site preparation are under way, laying the groundwork for faster progress in the coming period.

Timely disbursement

Alongside construction progress, capital disbursement remains key to ensuring the overall timeline. Since the beginning of 2026, funding has been allocated timely, enabling contractors to deploy the project without disruption. Payments for the completed have been made on schedule, helping maintain stable construction capacity.

In 2026, more than 1.026 trillion dong has been allocated to the project. So far, more than 210 billion dong has been disbursed, equivalent to around 20% of the annual plan. Cumulative disbursement has reached over 4.012 trillion dong, or about 83% of the total allocated capital.

For construction alone, cumulative disbursement stands at more than 2.818 trillion dong, of which construction and installation account for the largest share at around 2.690 trillion dong. Compensation and site clearance have reached more than 1.187 trillion dong, gradually freeing up land for construction.

Disbursement progress has remained stable and in line with the plan, providing room for contractors to accelerate construction across the site.

Nguyen Van Hai Tinh, representing the contractor consortium for Package 14, said construction progress has improved significantly thanks to timely disbursement. Prompt payments for the completed have also helped strengthen contractor accountability, providing additional momentum to speed up construction while ensuring quality.
