The 2025 Con Son – Kiep Bac Autumn Festival will be the first to be held after the site was inscribed by UNESCO as part of a World Cultural Heritage site.
The Hai Phong Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism on July 27 launched preparations for the 2025 Con Son – Kiep Bac Autumn Festival.
This year’s event holds special significance as it marks the first celebration since Con Son – Kiep Bac relic site was inscribed by UNESCO as part of the World Heritage complex "Yen Tu – Vinh Nghiem – Con Son, Kiep Bac."
The festival is expected to be held on a large scale, with both ceremonial and festive elements enhanced to honor and promote the site's outstanding universal values, aiming to generate strong resonance among domestic and international communities.
The main festivities will take place on October 7, including a memorial marking the 583rd death anniversary of National Hero and World Celebrity Nguyen Trai at Con Son site; a memorial and official opening ceremony of the 2025 Con Son – Kiep Bac Autumn Festival; the announcement of UNESCO’s inscription of “Yen Tu – Vinh Nghiem – Con Son, Kiep Bac” complex as a World Heritage site; the sacred Tran Saint seal-opening ceremony; and a high-altitude fireworks display at Kiep Bac site.
The festival will welcome representatives of UNESCO, international ambassadors, leaders of the Vietnamese Party and State, Central and local agencies, and thousands of citizens and visitors from across the country and abroad.
A series of cultural and artistic events will take place from October 6 to 11, including the Luc Dau river military parade re-enactment, the Trance Performance Festival, a requiem, a flower lantern festival, etc.
Notably, this year’s festival will feature several new highlights, including a real-scene art performance titled “Majestic Kiep Bac – Con Son”, with the festival space extending to the Luc Dau river and integrating light technologies and virtual reality.
The Culture – Tourism – Trade Promotion Week, running from October 7 to 11, will also serve as a key highlight, promoting OCOP products, spiritual tourism, and heritage values.
The 2025 Con Son – Kiep Bac autumn festival is not only a tribute to national ancestors but also a reaffirmation of the commitment to preserving and promoting World Cultural Heritage values in contemporary life.
