The Red Flamboyant Festival – Hai Phong 2026 will be organized on a city-wide scale, expected to take place from May 9 to May 15, in celebration of the 71st anniversary of the liberation of Hai Phong.

Mr. Nguyen Minh Hung, Member of the City Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Hai Phong, chairs a meeting to hear reports on the organization of the Red Flamboyant Festival – Hai Phong 2026.

On the afternoon of March 7, at the Hai Phong Political–Administrative Center, Mr. Nguyen Minh Hung chaired a meeting to review the plan for organizing the Red Flamboyant Festival – Hai Phong 2026.

Representatives from relevant departments, agencies, and sectors also attended the meeting.

At the meeting, the Hai Phong Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism presented a draft plan for organizing the Red Flamboyant Festival – Hai Phong 2026. The proposal included the festival theme, plans for accompanying activities, the script for the opening night artistic program, stage and grandstand arrangements, and reception plans for delegates and invited guests.

First held in 2012, the Red Flamboyant Festival has become a prominent political, cultural, and tourism event of Hai Phong, taking place annually in May to mark the anniversary of the city’s liberation on May 13. Over the years, the festival has become a distinctive cultural activity, contributing to the promotion of the image of Hai Phong as a dynamic and modern port city.

Leaders of Hai Phong Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism reports on the progress of preparations for organizing the Red Flamboyant Festival – Hai Phong 2026.

Based on a compilation of 12 proposed theme ideas submitted by various units, the Department reported the three themes receiving the most support and proposed a theme for the Red Flamboyant Festival – Hai Phong 2026 that highlights the city’s outstanding achievements after 71 years of construction and development, affirms the position of Hai Phong in the process of international integration, and reflects the city’s strong aspiration for growth in the new development phase.

According to the draft plan, the Red Flamboyant Festival – Hai Phong 2026 will be organized on a city-wide scale, expected to take place over seven days, from May 9 to May 15, to celebrate the 71st anniversary of the liberation of Hai Phong (May 13, 1955 – May 13, 2026).

The highlight of the festival will be a special art performance combined with a fireworks display on the evening of May 13 at the Hai Phong Political–Administrative Center Square.

The meeting is attended by leaders of relevant departments, sectors, and units.

The city also plans to strengthen information, communication, and promotion of the Red Flamboyant Festival – Hai Phong 2026 as well as the cultural and tourism image of Hai Phong through national and local mass media. In addition, documentaries and television programs introducing the festival, as well as the people and land of Hai Phong, will be produced.

At the meeting, delegates discussed and contributed opinions to the draft plan, while also proposing solutions to enhance coordination among departments and sectors in order to ensure that the event is organized in a formal, safe, and effective manner.

Concluding the meeting, Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Hai Phong, Nguyen Minh Hung, acknowledged the efforts of the departments and sectors in developing the draft plan for organizing the festival and its accompanying activities, as well as the draft decision to establish the Festival Organizing Committee.

Emphasizing that this year’s festival will be organized on a larger scale with a more modern character, the Vice Chairman requested the Hai Phong Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to build upon the experience of previous years, selectively incorporate the feedback received, and continue refining the festival theme. The theme should clearly reflect its significance, closely linked with the space, timing, and development aspirations of the city in the new stage.

The department was asked to urgently finalize the draft plan and submit it to the city’s People’s Committee no later than March 9. Regarding the festival night art program, the script should continue to be refined, and funding should be carefully balanced based on clearly identified resources. Organizers are also requested to study the possibility of multiple event venues, review the fireworks locations, and enhance the application of projection technology, large screens, and modern stage effects.

The city also aims to maximize socialization (public–private participation) in organizing the event. The Hai Phong Department of Finance, the Hai Phong Economic Zone Authority, and the Hai Phong Department of Industry and Trade have been assigned to study and propose plans to mobilize resources from businesses.

Several activities, including a program associated with the final round of the Miss Vietnam contest, are expected to be organized under a socialized model. Meanwhile, the Hai Phong Department of Construction has been assigned to take the lead, in coordination with relevant departments and sectors, in proposing groundbreaking ceremonies, inauguration events, and investment promotion activities associated with the 71st anniversary of the liberation of Hai Phong.
