Phase 1 of the Tan Trao industrial park project is being implemented in Kien Hung commune, Hai Phong city with a total investment of over 4 trillion VND.
Large scale, modern and synchronized infrastructure
Located in Kien Hung commune inside the Van Uc river dyke area, phase 1 of the Tan Trao industrial park infrastructure development project spans 226.79 ha, convenient for transport connectivity and technical infrastructure development.
Under the master plan, the park will be a modern, multi-sector industrial hub with fully synchronized infrastructure, capable of attracting clean, high-tech, and environmentally friendly industries. The total investment in the project is estimated at more than 4.059 trillion VND.
The project has a planned operational term of 50 years. Serving as the “gateway” to Tan Trao industrial park, the locality is focusing on site clearance, with groundbreaking scheduled for early September 2025.
Chairman of the commune People’s Committee Pham Van Dinh affirmed that the establishment of Tan Trao industrial park will strongly transform the local economic structure from agriculture to industry, enhance land-use efficiency, improve social infrastructure, create demand for skilled labor training, promote the development of services and commerce, and generate thousands of new, stable, high-quality jobs for local workers.
Kick-starting a “mega project” worth over 178 trillion VND
Right from its initial phase, Tan Trao industrial park has successfully attracted one of the largest industrial investment projects ever in Hai Phong, namely Hai Phong LNG Power Plant, co-invested by Vingroup and VinEnergo JSC.
The plant has a designed capacity of up to 4,800 MW, equivalent to double the capacity of Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant.
The project covers 98.5 ha in Tan Trao industrial park with a total investment of more than 178 trillion VND. More than just a liquefied natural gas (LNG) power plant, it will serve as a key hub for sustainable strategic energy security, spearheading green transition and green growth to meet the industrial development needs of Hai Phong and the Northern region.
The project will be developed in two phases. Phase 1, starting in 2025, will have a capacity of 1,600 MW and is expected to begin operation in the fourth quarter of 2027. Phase 2, with a capacity of 3,200 MW, will be completed by 2035.
In addition to power generation, the project will include a 500 kV power distribution yard, administrative and technical buildings, and modern auxiliary facilities.
With the simultaneous launch of the two major projects, Tan Trao industrial park and Hai Phong LNG Power Plant, the city is laying the foundation for a new growth pole in industrial development in its southeastern area.
The combination of well-planned development, large-scale investment, and long-term vision will enable Kien Hung to undergo a dramatic transformation and affirm its new role on Hai Phong’s industrial map.
