Sports activities not only help workers stay healthy but also serve as a bridge for building bonds and a positive working environment within enterprises.
Exciting playing fields
Sumidenso Vietnam Co., Ltd. in Dai An industrial park, Hai Phong city has for years organized football tournaments for its employees. Each factory has around eight men's teams and five to six women's teams.
Preliminary football and volleyball matches for the 2025 tournament have already taken place. This annual event provides a healthy and enjoyable playground for the employees.
In addition to football, the company also organizes table tennis, Chinese chess, and badminton tournaments. Every year, Sumidenso holds “Family Day” and “Workers’ Day” events with a wide range of activities such as sack races, tug-of-war, talent shows, drawing, flower arranging, and cooking competitions. The company has frequently represented the Industrial Parks’ Trade Union in competitions, earning several top prizes.
Despite limited facilities, Yazaki Hai Phong Vietnam Co., Ltd. in Japan-Hai Phong industrial park still manages to hold vibrant sports and musical events. On average, the company’s Trade Union hosts one football tournament and one music festival per year, drawing hundreds of workers.
According to Nguyen Quoc Viet, Chairman of the company’s Trade Union, the enterprise always strives to balance work and the spiritual well-being of its employees. Organizing cultural and sports activities is therefore essential to help the workers relieve stress after long hours of labor. These events foster unity, connection, and interaction among teams, while contributing to higher productivity and overall business growth.
Investing in training equipment
Recreation, entertainment, and physical exercise are essential needs for workers. However, not all businesses have the means to build the facilities required to meet these needs. In response, the Hai Phong Confederation of Labor has implemented various solutions in recent years to promote fitness activities and improve workers' health and morale.
The city Confederation of Labor aims to establish 100 “Trade Union Fitness Points” between 2024 and 2025. Each location will be equipped with around eight multi-functional exercise machines, with an investment of over 100 million VND. These facilities will be installed in areas with high concentrations of workers, such as dormitories, social housing zones, rented accommodations, and business premises.
By June 2025, nearly 30 fitness equipment sets had been installed at key sites including the Viet Tiep Friendship Labor Culture Center and the Kien An Gymnasium.
Nguyen Anh Tuan, Chairman of the city Confederation of Labor, emphasized the importance of trade unions working closely with businesses to organize more musical and sports activities for workers. These events offer workers a chance to relax and recharge, enabling them to continue contributing effectively to their companies.
In the near future, the confederation will continue organizing sports tournaments and musical festivals for enterprises to interact, compete, and learn from one another.
