Over 400 businesses attend supply chain connectivity conference

The Hai Phong Department of Industry and Trade, in coordination with Hai Phong Port JSC, organized a conference connecting manufacturing and import-export businesses with seaports and shipping lines under the theme “Supply chain linkages – Logistics optimization – Driving double-digit growth” on August 7.

The conference was attended by representatives of agencies under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, leaders of Hai Phong’s departments and agencies, and more than 400 businesses in manufacturing, import-export, logistics and maritime transport.

Speaking at the conference, Vice Chairman of the Municipal People’s Committee Hoang Minh Cuong emphasized that Hai Phong holds a strategic position in the production, supply and circulation chains of the northern region. The city’s seaport system, particularly the deep-water Lach Huyen port area, has been developed in a modern direction and is capable of handling large container ships, with direct connections to seaports around the world.

In addition, the network of expressways, Cat Bi International Airport, inland waterways and the Lao Cai – Ha Noi – Hai Phong railway, which is being prepared for investment, gives the city favorable conditions to develop an integrated value chain encompassing seaports, industry, trade and logistics, serving Hai Phong and the entire northern region.

In import-export activities, logistics costs, transportation time, shipping schedules, service routes, port handling capacity and the level of data sharing directly affect the competitiveness of goods. Therefore, Vice Chairman Hoang Minh Cuong expected the conference to go beyond discussions and focus on concrete outcomes, including cooperation agreements between businesses; transportation routes, seaport services and logistics services better suited to cargo demand; and solutions related to costs, time, procedures and information sharing.

This would help increase the proportion of goods from Hai Phong and the northern region that are cleared, transported, handled by logistics services and exported or imported through the city’s seaport system, while retaining a greater share of the added value generated by logistics services locally.

The conference featured two panel discussions focusing on solutions to reduce logistics costs in Hai Phong and solutions to promote industrial development and exports as a driving force for the city’s double-digit growth in 2026.

The discussions provided a clearer picture of Hai Phong’s logistics, industrial and export development, while highlighting requirements arising from deeper international integration and the need to strengthen linkages among local authorities, infrastructure businesses, seaport and logistics companies, manufacturers and investors.
