Northern Vietnam continues to experience intense heat

Severe heat continues to cover many areas in Northern and Central Vietnam, with temperatures exceeding 38 degrees Celsius in some places, while scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected in the late afternoon and evening.

Hot weather continues to persist across Northern and Central Vietnam.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, weather conditions across the country on May 15 remain clearly divided by region. Northern and Central Vietnam continue to experience widespread heat, with severe heatwaves reported in many areas.

In Northern Vietnam, daytime conditions remain hot, with some places experiencing extreme heat. However, scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected in the late afternoon and evening, helping to ease temperatures locally after peak daytime heat.

The area stretching from Thanh Hoa to Da Nang, along with the eastern parts of provinces from Quang Ngai to Dak Lak, continues to be the center of the heatwave. Many localities are recording prolonged high temperatures, creating oppressive and uncomfortable conditions. Despite this, scattered showers and thunderstorms are still expected in the late afternoon and evening, although rainfall is forecast to be uneven and generally light.

Other regions nationwide continue to see sunny conditions, with some areas also experiencing hot weather. Southern Vietnam, in particular, is expected to remain noticeably hot during the day. From late afternoon onward, scattered showers and thunderstorms may develop, helping temperatures cool down overnight.

Weather forecast for regions nationwide:

The northwestern region will see cloudy skies with widespread hot to extremely hot weather during the day, while scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected in the evening and at night. Highest temperatures are forecast between 35 and 38 degrees Celsius, with some places exceeding 38 degrees Celsius.

The northeastern region will continue to experience severe heat during the day, followed by isolated showers and thunderstorms in the late afternoon and evening. Maximum temperatures are expected to range from 35 to 38 degrees Celsius, with some areas above 38 degrees Celsius.

Provinces from Thanh Hoa to Hue will continue to face intense heat, with daytime highs commonly between 35 and 38 degrees Celsius, and some places exceeding 38 degrees Celsius.

In the South Central Coast region, the northern part will continue to endure severe heat, while the southern part will remain sunny with some areas experiencing hot conditions. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected in the late afternoon and evening.

The Central Highlands will experience sunny weather during the day, with some places seeing hot conditions. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are forecast in the late afternoon and evening. Maximum temperatures will generally range from 31 to 34 degrees Celsius, with some locations exceeding 35 degrees Celsius.

Southern Vietnam will continue to experience hot weather during the day, with scattered showers and thunderstorms expected in the late afternoon and evening. Highest temperatures will range from 34 to 36 degrees Celsius, with some places exceeding 36 degrees Celsius.
