Hai Phong city is expected to remain under the influence of high temperatures, with a Level 1 natural disaster risk warning issued due to the ongoing heatwave.
Under the impact of a hot low-pressure system from the west, Hai Phong city continued to experience intense heat on August 4, with temperatures peaking between 36 – 38°C and relatively low humidity levels of 55 – 60%, according to the city Hydrometeorological Station
Forecasts for August 5 indicate that localized heat will persist across Hai Phong. A Level 1 disaster risk warning remains in effect due to the heatwave.
The combination of high temperatures and low humidity increases the risk of fires and explosions in residential areas due to higher electricity usage, as well as the potential for forest fires.
Additionally, extreme heat can lead to dehydration, exhaustion, and even heatstroke when individuals are exposed to high temperatures for prolonged periods.
The Hydrometeorological Station also noted that forecasted temperatures in heatwave bulletins may differ from actual perceived outdoor temperatures by 2 – 4°C, or even more, depending on surface conditions such as concrete and asphalt.
