According to the city's Hydro - meteorological Station, widespread hot weather and severe heat are expected across Hai Phong on June 22-23.
The station said the hot spell is being driven by the westward low-pressure system expanding towards the southeast. Maximum temperatures are forecast to range between 37 and 39 degrees Celsius, while the lowest relative humidity is expected to drop to around 50-55%.
In the central area, including Thuy Nguyen, Le Chan and Hai An wards, as well as Kien An, An Duong, An Lao, Tien Lang and Vinh Bao, daytime highs are expected to range from 36 to 38 degrees Celsius.
Temperatures of between 37 and 39 degrees Celsius are forecast for Hai Duong, Cam Giang, Tu Ky, Ninh Giang, Thanh Mien and Kim Thanh, along with Chi Linh, Kinh Mon and Thanh Ha. The heatwave is expected to persist until the end of June 25.
Meteorologists warned that prolonged hot weather combined with low humidity could heighten the risk of fires and explosions in residential areas due to increased electricity consumption, while also raising the risk of forest fires.
Extreme weather conditions could also lead to dehydration, exhaustion and heatstroke. Residents have been advised to limit outdoor activities between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., and stay hydrated.
