Coastal areas of Hai Phong will continue to be affected by a strong high tide on the morning of December 9, forecast the city Hydrometeorological Station.

Forecasts indicate that coastal areas of Hai Phong will remain under the influence of a strong high tide on the morning of December 9.
The city Hydrometeorological Station warned that rising combined water levels could cause localized flooding in low-lying coastal areas and river mouths such as Bach Dang, Lach Tray, and Van Uc and Moi and Thai Binh rivers. Flood depths in some low areas may range from 0.3 - 0.5 m, affecting agriculture, aquaculture and travel.
Over the next 24 - 48 hours, the high tide is predicted to persist. On the morning of December 10, water levels in coastal areas of Hai Phong are forecast to fluctuate between 375 and 385 cm. The disaster risk level is assessed at level 1, requiring monitoring and proactive response.
The city Hydrometeorological Station advised local authorities and residents to proactively check drainage systems, limit travel through low-lying areas during peak tide, and ensure safety for production and daily activities.
