Persistent efforts in studying, working, research, and volunteerism are helping the young generation of Hai Phong carry forward the proud tradition of the ‘Heroic City.’

Constant effort and growth
Le Xuan Tien, Secretary of the Youth Union of Class K42A at Hai Phong University of Medicine and Pharmacy, is admired by many of his peers. Throughout his university years, he continuously earned prestigious titles such as “National Outstanding Youth Following Uncle Ho’s Teachings,” “Five-Good Student at the Central Level,” and the “January Star Award” in 2024.
Tien has maintained excellent academic performance from 2023 to 2025, with a GPA of 3.26/4.0, and has received six university scholarships. He aspires to become a skilled doctor who can dedicate his knowledge and energy to improving public health.
Meanwhile, Do Minh Ha, Head of the Hai Dang Volunteer Group under the Hai Phong Youth Federation, represents a model of young people living beautifully and usefully. Along with more than 50 members of the group, the 1993-born volunteer has persistently organized meaningful charity programs, raised funds to build schools and community bridges, and donated gifts, school supplies, and necessities to disadvantaged families, children, and Agent Orange victims in Northern and Central localities. In 2024, the group raised 5 billion VND to build one school, one bridge, and deliver hundreds of gifts to children and the poor in Lao Cai province.
Ha received a certificate of merit from the Chairman of the Hai Phong People’s Committee for his contributions in the patriotic emulation movement (2020–2025), and the “Beautifully Living Youth” Award from the Vietnam Youth Federation in 2021.

In recent years, patriotic emulation movements among Hai Phong youth have been actively and effectively implemented, tailored to different sectors and groups.
Between 2020 and 2025, the city Youth Union and Youth Federation launched various campaigns, including “Creative Youth,” “Accompanying Young Entrepreneurs,” and “Youth Pioneering in Socio-economic Development and National Defense.” Across the city, Youth Union branches have carried out nearly 10,000 youth-led projects, attracting tens of thousands of young participants.
Through these movements, the city Youth Union donated 3,000 gifts, raised funds to build or repair 81 houses, helped 224 young families escape poverty, and provided science and technology training to more than 4,600 disadvantaged youth.
Particularly in the digital transformation process, Hai Phong youth have become a leading force in promoting the “Digital Literacy for All” campaign. They have actively supported local authorities and citizens in using online public services under the two-tier local government system, with practical initiatives such as the 30-day “Youth Campaign for Digital Skills,” the “Digital Family” movement, and the construction of eight “Digital Libraries.”
According to Deputy Secretary of the city Youth Union Duong Thi Huong Giang, the unit will continue to innovate its communication methods and launch modern and engaging movements linked to digital transformation through social media platforms to spread inspiring stories and examples of good deeds.
Youth Unions across the city will proactively create environments for young people to learn, dedicate, and grow through programs that support study, research, entrepreneurship, creativity, and international integration, Giang added.
