Hai Phong strengthens cooperation with EU

Hai Phong hopes that businesses and investors from the European Union (EU) will come to cooperate and invest in the fields that the city prioritizes for development.

On the afternoon of January 15, Vice Chairman of the Hai Phong People's Committee Hoang Minh Cuong received and held a working session with the European Union (EU) Delegation to Vietnam, led by EU Ambassador to Vietnam Julien Guerrier.

The Hai Phong People's Committee Vice Chairman Hoang Minh Cuong provided an overview of the city's outstanding achievements in socio-economic development, as well as its potential and strengths following the merger.

In addition to boasting all five modes of transportation and serving as the gateway to the world for provinces and cities in northern Vietnam, Hai Phong features a developed network of universities, colleges, and vocational training institutions capable of supplying high-quality human resources.

The city also has large-scale economic zones and industrial parks under investment and development, totaling nearly 60,000 hectares.

Discussing future development orientations, the city leader stated that Hai Phong aims to become a modern, civilized, eco-friendly port city of regional stature. Hai Phong requested the EU Delegation to continue to pay attention, share experiences, enhance information exchange, and foster cooperation in high-tech industry, digital transformation, logistics, high-quality human resource training, and environmental protection.

On behalf of the EU delegation, EU Ambassador to Vietnam Julien Guerrier thanked the Hai Phong city leaders for their warm reception, while also praising the city's potential and long-term development vision.

The Ambassador affirmed that Vietnam in general, and Haiphong City in particular, are priority partners for the EU in green transformation, digital transformation, and ensuring maritime security and safety. He also hoped that, with the city's strategic investment direction, Hai Phong will attract more large-scale projects in high technology, science and technology, and green transformation.
