Strong impressions

Hai Phong city made a notable mark in 2025 with two major highlights: the 70th anniversary of its liberation celebrated alongside the Red Flamboyant Festival – Hai Phong 2025, and activities within the framework of the third meeting of the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC III).

The 2025 Red Flamboyant Festival was the largest ever held, serving both as a celebration of a historic milestone and as a major platform to promote the city’s image to domestic and international friends.

The city also showcased its capacity to host international events through a variety of cultural, artistic, sightseeing, and experiential activities during ABAC III, attracting hundreds of delegates, experts, and entrepreneurs from APEC member economies.

As part of the program, the delegation visited Chu Dau pottery village in western Hai Phong, one of Vietnam’s most famous ceramic production centers during the early Le dynasty. “The ceramic designs here are unique and distinctive. I truly enjoyed painting floral and leaf patterns on pottery,” said Hiromi Okase from Japan.

In addition to Chu Dau pottery village, the organizers also took delegates to the UNESCO World Heritage Site Lan Ha Bay – Cat Ba Archipelago. “Cat Ba has stunning scenery and a rare sense of tranquility. I will definitely come back with my family,” said Jee Woon from the Republic of Korea.

Nguyen The Anh, Director of Cat Ba Panorama Company, which organized the ABAC III tour, noted: “After the conference, many delegates have returned to Cat Ba with their families and friends for vacation. This is a very positive outcome for the city’s tourism sector.”

Since the beginning of 2025, Hai Phong has organized and co-organized a series of large-scale cultural, sports, and tourism events, leaving a strong impression in terms of content, form, and communication impact.

Alongside major events, the city’s culture, sports, and tourism sector has held dozens of exhibitions on fine arts, books, the press, photo archives, etc. serving political missions at the Hai Phong Museum, the General Science Library, and many community cultural venues.

These achievements demonstrate the increasingly professional and methodical organizational capacity of Hai Phong’s culture, sports, and tourism sector, contributing to elevating the city’s position on Vietnam’s cultural event map.

Recognizing the sector’s successes, at the 2nd conference of the City Party Committee, Secretary Le Tien Chau praised: “The city has successfully organized many large-scale cultural and artistic activities, contributing to preserving and promoting the traditional cultural values of the city.” This forms an important foundation for Hai Phong to further develop culture as a driver of the creative economy, boost the cultural industry, and improve the quality of spiritual life for its people.

With guidance and support from the city’s leadership and the proactive, creative spirit of the culture, sports, and tourism sector, Hai Phong is steadily affirming its role as a “city of events,” ready to embrace new opportunities from tourism and the cultural industry in this era of deep integration.
