People’s Committees of coastal communes, wards, and special zones must arrange anchorage to avoid collisions and sinkings

The Civil Defense Command of Hai Phong city has announced a ban on certain activities in estuaries and coastal areas to prevent the impacts of Typhoon Ragasa starting from the afternoon of September 24.

Specifically, tourist boats, fishing vessels, and other watercraft are prohibited from going out to sea; the Cat Hai – Phu Long cable car, tourism, and recreational activities in coastal and island areas are suspended; aquaculture, fishing, and other activities in estuaries, coastal areas, and offshore waters are banned from 2 pm on September 24.

The city Border Guard Command and People’s Committees of coastal communes, wards, and special zones are tasked with regularly informing and urging vessels at sea, as well as workers on aquaculture cages and watch huts, to move to safe shelters by all means possible; arranging anchorage to avoid collisions and sinkings.

Authorities are determined to prevent fishing vessels and inland waterway craft that have already taken shelter from resuming operations during periods of strong winds and high waves (if necessary, enforcement measures will be applied).

The city Border Guard Command directed coastal and island border guard stations to fire signal flares to call vessels to safe shelters as regulated, and to be ready to deploy CN-09 vessels and other means to participate in search and rescue when required.
