Construction gathers pace

Despite hot weather and frequent rain in late May, work continued at a brisk pace on Hai Thanh Bridge, part of Package No. 20 covering the section from the Lien Phuong Road interchange to the Hai Thanh overpass interchange.

At Package No. 19, which includes the Tan Vu interchange and the section leading to the Lien Phuong Road interchange, a consortium of Bridge Construction Joint Stock Company No. 75 and Song Hong Joint Stock Company has completed roadbeds and is preparing for asphalt paving.

The package was 62.2% complete as of late May. Contractors expect to complete asphalt paving by the end of July if weather conditions remain favorable.

Construction of the Nguyen Truong To–Bui Vien Road expansion project, stretching about 10.4 km from the National Highway 10 interchange to the Ring Road 2 interchange, began in April and is progressing rapidly.

At construction sites in An Hai Ward, An Duong District, contractors have mobilized additional workers and machinery to accelerate progress.

Bui Van Dat, a site engineer at Loan Khai Investment Construction Trading Co., Ltd., said the contractor had deployed maximum manpower and equipment and was working to overcome construction challenges to ensure completion of the package by the end of 2026 in line with its contract commitments.

Land clearance remains a hurdle

According to the Hai Phong Transport Infrastructure Construction Investment Project Management Board, all construction packages on the Tan Vu–Hung Dao–Bui Vien section of Ring Road 2, as well as the Nguyen Truong To Road expansion project, have entered a critical phase as authorities push to complete the entire project by Dec. 31, 2026.

However, land clearance issues continue to affect Package No. 21, which covers the section from the Hai Thanh overpass interchange to the Bui Vien Road overpass interchange in Hung Dao Ward.

The difficulties have also prevented contractors from accelerating work simultaneously across the Nguyen Truong To–Bui Vien Road expansion project.

Once completed, the project is expected to boost transport connectivity, create additional space for urban and economic development, and help reduce traffic congestion and accident risks along the route linking Hai Phong's seaport area with the city center.
