Agreement on the schedule, venue, and format of voter meetings

Hai Phong has finalized the number, schedule, venues, and format for organizing voter meetings of candidates running for the National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels.

On the afternoon of February 25, the Standing of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the city held a conference to agree on the number of voter meeting venues, as well as the schedule, locations, and format of voter meetings for candidates running for deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026–2031 term.

The conference was chaired by Mr. Pham Van Lap, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hai Phong, and Vice Chairman of the City Election Committee.

Attending the conference were Mr. Vu Tien Phung, Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the City People’s Committee; Mr. Nguyen Duc Tuan, Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee and Standing Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the city; along with representatives of relevant departments, sectors, and units.

At the conference, many participants contributed opinions, exchanged views, and proposed balancing the number, timing, and format of voter meetings to ensure they are conducted in a democratic, transparent, equal, and lawful manner.

In his closing speech, Mr. Pham Van Lap, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee, and Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the city, acknowledged that the opinions presented closely followed the requirements and guiding documents of the Central authorities, demonstrated a strong constructive spirit, and were closely aligned with practical conditions in the localities.

The Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the city agreed to organize voter meetings in a direct format combined with online participation.

Regarding the specific schedule, for candidates running for deputies to the 16th National Assembly, voter meetings will be held over three days, from March 4 to March 6.

For candidates running for deputies to the Hai Phong City People’s Council for the 2026–2031 term, voter meetings will take place over three days, from March 9 to March 11.

To ensure that voter meetings are conducted smoothly and in accordance with regulations, Mr. Pham Van Lap requested the Department of Science and Technology to strengthen coordination with VNPT Hai Phong in assigning officials and technicians to work with commune-level authorities (where voter meetings are expected to be held) to inspect, review, and thoroughly prepare facilities, technical infrastructure, and transmission lines for online voter meetings.

Following the review, units and localities still facing infrastructure difficulties are required to promptly propose solutions for supplementation and timely remediation, ensuring that voter meetings are held on schedule, in accordance with regulations, and with guaranteed quality.

The Department for Democracy, Supervision and Social Criticism (under the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the city) will assign officials to be in charge of each polling area and each commune-level unit to coordinate and ensure readiness for organizing the meetings.

The Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the city also plans to assign chairpersons for the voter meetings, and those assigned are required to make thorough preparations to successfully fulfill their tasks.

The Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hai Phong called on socio-political organizations to strengthen guidance to their affiliated units and coordinate with local authorities in communication and public outreach efforts, encouraging citizens to attend the voter meetings fully and responsibly contribute their opinions, thereby contributing to the overall success of the election day and ensuring it truly becomes a major festival of the entire people.
