The 2025 Vietnam – China Friendship Exchange served as an opportunity for the two countries’ business communities to share the outcomes of their cooperation, enhance mutual understanding, strengthen friendship, and explore new, effective partnership opportunities.
The Hai Phong Union of Friendship Organizations and the city Vietnam – China Friendship Association co-organized the 2025 Vietnam – China Friendship Exchange in the city on October 10 to mark the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries and their Year of People-to-People Exchange 2025.
Speaking at the event, Vice Chairman of the Hai Phong People’s Committee Hoang Minh Cuong emphasized that the program took place in the context of a flourishing relationship between Vietnam and China. The two Parties and peoples have been working together to deepen and elevate their comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, building “a Vietnam – China community with a shared future of strategic significance.”
This year, both sides announced the launch of the Vietnam – China Year of People-to-People Exchange 2025, highlighting the importance of strengthening people-to-people exchanges and economic cooperation to consolidate a stronger foundation for bilateral relations.
Hai Phong has always considered friendship and cooperation activities with China one of top priorities, identifying China as one of its key and strategic markets in cooperation and promotion of economic, trade, and investment exchange.
To further enhance cooperation efficiency, Vice Chairman Hoang Minh Cuong suggested that relevant departments, agencies, and associations of both sides to well implement existing cooperation agreements between Hai Phong and Chinese localities, while expanding and deepening exchanges and cooperation in education, culture, science and technology, economy, and trade.
In terms of economic, investment, and trade cooperation, he stressed the need for both sides to continue promoting the role of their business communities and associations to foster investment promotion activities and business networking.
The official encouraged Chinese enterprises to cooperate directly with Hai Phong-based companies within the same supply chains, and vice versa, toward forming a complete international supply chain in the city.
He also called for more Chinese investment in Hai Phong’s priority sectors such as supporting industries, high technology, clean energy, digital economy, green economy, and circular economy.
Hai Phong will continue to facilitate, encourage, and support businesses from both countries in their investment, production, and business activities; promote innovation and technological advancement; strengthen international branding; and build a transparent, stable, and efficient investment environment.
Hai Phong currently has 769 investment projects from China with a total registered capital of 12.77 billion USD, accounting for more than one-fourth of the city’s total FDI. The increasing presence and investments of Chinese enterprises have been making an important contribution to the city’s socio-economic development.
